ABOUT
THE KOGOD SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND THE IB
DEPARTMENT:
The Kogod School of Business, is an exciting,
entrepreneurial institution with more
than 1,250 MBA and undergraduate students.
The Kogod School is known for a faculty
with expertise in finance, accounting,
international business, real estate,
management, marketing and global information
technol-ogy, and for its competitive
advantage of interacting with the financial,
regulatory, and technology com-munities
of the greater Washington D.C. area.
Kogod emphasizes the interdisciplinary
nature of our pro-grams including joint
programs with other academic units on
campus such as the School of International
Service and the Washington College of
Law.
The Department of International Business
has ten full-time faculty members including
two execu-tives-in-residence. The Department
offers a broad selection of courses in
international business and has recently
created MBA-level career tracks in international
trade/export-import management, global
emerg-ing markets, and international
consulting which it is implementing together
with other academic depart-ments at Kogod.
A number of faculty members in the department
have teaching and research interests
in emerging market issues, and actively
collaborate in this field as well as
in others with members from other departments,
especially finance, global information
technology and management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching: graduate and undergraduate
courses, in export-import management,
global supply chain management, market
entry strategies and international
business.
- Research: Top – tier
research in the designated field
- Service: Participation in department,
school and university activities
as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in international
business/business administration/international
economics
or related field, or anticipated completion by August 31, 2008. Academic and
business background that would allow the in-dividual to develop expertise in
the field of international trade/export/import management/supply chain management.
Interest in emerging markets a plus.

The Kogod School of
Business at American University in Washington,
D.C. invites
nominations and applications for appointment
to the Crown Prince of Bahrain Chair in
International Business. The position has
tenured status and resides in the Department
of Finance and Real Estate with a starting
date of September 2008. The appointment
is subject to final budgetary approval.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate
will lead the school’s initiatives
in creating and building a comprehensive
international finance program. Working
with the Finance and Real Estate Department
and the International Business Department,
the Chair will develop and coordinate activities
related to international finance within
and across departments, across the University’s
various schools, and foster external relationships
with the business community. The ideal
candidate will have an established record
as a prominent scholar in international
finance. Well-qualified associate professors
and full professors will be considered
for the position. The Chair offers a reduced
teaching load, discretionary research funds,
an annual stipend, and a competitive salary.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The Kogod School of
Business is an exciting, entrepreneurial
institution with over 400 MBA and 900 undergraduate
students. The Kogod School is known for
a faculty with expertise in finance and
international business, and enjoys substantial
interaction with the financial, regulatory
and technology communities of the greater
Washington DC area.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTS: The Department
of Finance and Real Estate currently has
10 tenured or tenure-track faculty members,
2 visitors and an executive in residence.
In addition, the successful candidate can
draw on the members and research resources
of the Department of International Business
which is one of oldest standing IB departments
in the country and comprises 5 tenured
or tenure-track faculty members and 3 executives/scholars
in residence. Department members have published
and continue to publish in top finance
journals such as The Journal of Finance,
Journal of Financial Economics, and The
Review of Financial Studies as well as
leading journals in international business,
management, accounting, and economics.
The Finance and IB Departments have an
active research seminar series with papers
presented, in-turn, by inside and outside
researchers. Current research projects
focus on corporate finance, financial agency
issues, market microstructure and international
financial economics. The group is collegial
and works as a team to further individual
research interests and goals.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess
a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Finance
or Economics. Applicants must have a strong
commitment to research, must be effective
teachers, and must be able to effectively
coordinate and lead the faculty and external
constituents.

The Department of Management at the Kogod

and nominations for The George and Maureen
Collins Chaired Professorship in Strategy
and Consulting with the appointment to
begin Fall semester 2008. The appointment
is subject to final budgetary approval.
Qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in appropriate field of Management (Strategic Management with a supporting
focus on Consulting).
- Academic and business background that would allow the individual to teach
graduate and undergraduate strategic management and consulting.
- Outstanding teaching at all levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality research.
- Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in developing strategic
management and consulting programs and relationships with the business community.
- Demonstrated ability to work with other faculty in developing joint research
projects and to provide thought leadership in the strategic management and
consulting areas.
